What are you studying while playing for i2i international soccer academy in Newcastle?
I'm currently studying sports coaching at Northumbria University, I arrived in September 2021 and I'm here for 3 years.
How did you get into football and what made you choose to study and play abroad?
I've always played lots of sports growing up in the US including basketball but soccer has always been a real passion of mine and I really wanted to pursue a career in coaching. I2I soccer academy gave me a fantastic opportunity to study and play in England and gain a great experience.
What do you hope to achieve over the next 3 years?
My aim is to become a professional player, the set-up is fantastic at i2i international soccer academy with many talented players from the US and other countries we have a great coach and a few players have started to play for some bigger teams such as Durham Ladies and Gateshead.
What injuries have you suffered so far in your career?
I suffer from osteochondritis dissecans which meant I needed a knee operation in October 2019 & August 2019 and I currently play with a large knee brace to prevent injury, but I'm seeing the consultant in January 2022 and I hope to then get the all-clear to play without it. I also suffered an ankle sprain in the first week of training in England.
How have you found using the Empowerband Football Ankle Support?
I initially used a traditional neoprene support which cut the circulation off to my toes it was very uncomfortable and distracted me while I played. I've loved using the Empowerband Football Ankle Support it was so comfortable and supportive perfect for football and it's protected me from any further injuries.
How do you think the women's game has evolved in the past few years and what can be done to improve it?
I think the women's game has made huge strides over the last few years with more investment and exposure being given to the game. I think there still needs to be more investment needed at all levels of the game especially at the grassroots level to encourage more girls to take up the game.
Who is your football hero? and strive to be like?
I support Seattle OL Reign and I really admire Megan Rapinoe and what she has done to highlight the inequalities in football.
